Does anyone know what this system is ??

Hi guys

I have attached the pics for the system I have in my home. I have searched the internet for any references and could not find any.

Does anyone know what this system is and where can I find any manuals. I intend to place this in my garage ( if I can get it to work)

Any ideas

Thanks

Andre

I would say ask an old timer but I am an old timer and have never seen that system before.

You may have to ask an old timer in Canada.

If you look on the circuit board you may find a manufacturer and some numbers that may help you.

Greg,

I have looked all over the circuit board ( took it out of the case ) and cannot find any brand name, model, or any number for that matter.

The only inscription is written in felt marker ( Jun 1/88 )

It would be quite odd for there not to be a manufacturers number somewhere.
Even one of the chips could be proprietary.

Did you remove the keypad and look at the backside of it and the cct board.
You could try to take a clear picture of the board after setting your camera to macro and holding it very steady or on a tripod.

During the 1980s, a lot of companies jumped into the intrusion alarm business. A lot of them didn't last long before folding or getting absorbed by the bigger players. Even the phone companies were trying to sell security systems then...

Looking at this thing, it could be anything from one of the hardware store brands to an obscure Radio Shack model.

My Two Cents

You said you intend to install it in the garage. In that case, remove it from the wall and likely there might be a brand name on the back side. Another method might be to remove it, since you're going to anyway and take it to a local dealer if possible or email photos to a local dealer. Someone up your way is likely or hopefully is likely, to remember that system.

Actually, without a brand name on the front is a good thing. Any potential intruder whom has been in the house before or advised by another person what brand or system it is, not likely to know how to disarm an unknown system upon return to rob the place......

I have taken off the wall and will take the two circuit boards apart. Perhaps there is something I can't see under the keypad. I'll send more pics ( close ups) and keep you up to date. A good challenge is always good for the mind.

Thanks for all the advice you guys provided thus far.

The font and layout remind me of older AT&T systems.

Maybe an early/cheap version of their 8000 system -- They were also encased in whitish plastic with the terminal strip along the bottom of the board and a battery tray below.
