Adding Sensors to Simon XT

I have a question about adding glass break sensors to my Simon XT. After I trip the sensor and then add it to a group (13), does the Simon automatically know that it's a glass break sensor and gives it that name in the system, or do I have to manually input the glass break code along with the location (bedroom, living room) code? Thanks in advance.

I don't believe it can tell the difference between a regular sensor and a glass break sensor. I haven't added a sensor to in a while, so I don't remember if there is a list of sensor names or if you can only choose a room name. Regardless, you wouldn't need to distinguish between a window being broken and a window being open (both are equally threatening), so just name the sensor according to whatever room it is in.

There is a code for the sensor (all of them for that matter), but I just wasn't sure if it was picked up automatically by the system, or I have to program that in along with the location code. The sensor name is nice to see since it shows up on the alarm.com app. and you can tell which sensor has been tripped.

Adding Sensors to Simon XT

Just wanted to reply back to finish this thread out- after the sensor is learned, you have to input the group number, and any other information you want, including what type of sensor it is, and the location it will be installed. The shortcut codes in the installation manual make this much easier.
