Converting keypad problem

I have a 4110DL Ademco security system with an old 6150 keypad. The keys had stopped working so I ordered a new 6160. I installed the 6160. I was able to changed the com address in *13 to 16 and then I entered * the keypad is lite but I have no display. This is the main key pad another is upstairs. Any ides on what I did wrong?

Thanks

Keypads on this model system use non-addressable mode (address 31)
AND
The 6160 keypad is not compatible with a 4110DL. You need another 6150...

I think you assumed that instructions for current models like the Vista 20p were backward compatible to your (much) older model...

Keypad swap

So I see that this is turning into one of those life's learning moments.
I have removed the 6160 from the system and reinstalled the old keypad. Its a 6127 after further investigation. So now what is happening is when the system is place in STAY and we walk away from the keypad upstairs the alarm goes off (motion detector). So have I screwed thing up when I was trying to make the 6160 work on my system. Did I reprogram something else in the control panel?

No. Powering down to replace the keypad won't change zone behavior (it's in non-volatile memory). The configuration is in the alarm control, not in the keypad (which is just an interface).

Did you actually go into system programming?
Here's the right set of instructions: http://www.info-techs.com/ademco/fil...n/4110dlii.pdf
And programming form: http://www.info-techs.com/ademco/fil...g/4110dlpf.pdf

keypad replacement

Thank you so much. I downloaded the manual and programing instruction. That helped a lot. The alarm is now working without setting off the motion detector upstairs. But now I have ZONE 4 that beeps when ever we open the back door or windows and the alarm isn't even armed. Then we need to clear it twice to get it to stop. Under response type *34 I have it set to 3. Is this the right programing. We want it to alarm only in the STAY and AWAY modes and silent all other times.

Thanks
Mark

Double check your programming (in programming press #34 to view the setting), I suspect that you have it set differently than you think. 3 is the correct setting for a non-entry/exit perimeter door zone.
