Please help me with correct term for these window alarm sensor parts
Many thanks for any help anyone can give.
These are installed on our windows. They can be pulled apart so the window can be completely opened.
What are they called?
One pin is shorter than the other (the top pin in the pic), but I am not sure how to connect the two halves. The halves fit together either way but I'm sure only one way is correct. I would appreciate any assistance.
The reason for all this is that my alarm won't arm and I'm trying to figure out if it might be a problem of some connection not being done properly.
Again many thanks.

Wow... I haven't seen those used in a while. I use a similar but smaller plug when I wire a customers screens for protection.
Those plastic plugs have no polarity and can be connected in either direction. Does your alarm panel show the window(s) zone as the one violated or are you just checking everything ?

Thanks for replying so quickly!
Yes, I know they're ancient, LOL! But they still do the job. I also still have some foil alarm tape on some of the windows, believe it or not. Our house should just be declared a museum of antique alarm artifacts.
At the moment, I'm just checking everything. Our windows were washed this week and I suspected maybe one of these plugs was not refastened correctly, so that was the first place I looked. But it doesn't look like that's the problem.
My alarm panel is just as ancient as those plugs and not user-friendly at all (Moose Z1100E), and I wasn't able to get it to show me which zone is the problem. I tried the combination of codes listed in the manual to check individual zones, but it didn't do anything. Same buttons stay lit and the alarm can't be armed. I did shunt each zone and try to arm the system, but that didn't work either.
I guess it's time to call the alarm guy.
Again, many thanks. At least I know there's no "wrong way" to connect these plugs.
