GE Interlogix Concord 4: program NX-650N wireless sensor with external contact

HELP! I am trying to program a NX-650N wireless sensor with an external contact. I have tried what tech support says with everything and am still getting a tamper problem. I have removed the jumper, had external contact in alarm state while programming in, tried with resistor inline and in parallel and without resistor. Is there some sort of trick? Can someone please help?

The resistor goes in series with the normally closed external contact.
(make sure to use the one that came with the transmitter, it's not the same value as the ones for the hardwired zones)

Start with the contact closed (magnet in proximity to the switch half of the contact).

When you enroll the contact, move the magnet away to simulate opening the door/window. Then open the battery cover to trip the tamper.
