Ademco P10 motion detector keeps beeping every 45 seconds

This is the motion detector in question: imgur: the simple image sharer

According to my panel, all it says is : Zone 3 , Not Ready, and Chime. None of these seem to relate to why the detector is beeping so freqeuently!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Nothing has been programmed yet; it's a new unit I moved into that had no previous occupancy.

Welcome to the forums.

I'm not familiar with a P-10 motion detector and I've never heard one actually beep before.

Thanks!

Yeah, it's weird; I just missed their business hours when I called in to ask, so I'm stuck with the beeping for the rest of this weekend, unfortunately. No luck on web searches regarding this particular problem so far.

What kind of panel do you have. The motion beeps because of how it is programmed.

1- "Ademco P10 motion detector" in a search engine results in 0 hits [except this thread]. Are you sure that is the model?

2 - I have never experienced any motion that beeps -- does it have a piezo in it? If the beeping is from the keypad, have you tried turning off the chime feature?

3 - why don't you just power it down if you do not want to listen to it?

4 - is it connected to the alarm system or is it stand-alone?

Now that I think of it, is the beeping from keypad or the motion itself?

Motion detectors don't beep.

If the sound is not coming from your keypad, then the sound is coming from something else near by, like a smoke alarm, CO detector, or even a forgotten children's toy.
