Home Security Cameras that record to Cloud?
I am looking for a home security camera system that can record to the cloud via Wi-Fi. I don't want to have to run a PC constantly, which is the issue with BlueIris I believe. The only option I found is the Y-Cam, but they are really expensive compared to other cameras on the market and I feel like you are just paying for their cloud service.
Anyone know of any other cloud cameras?
Thanks

Recording to the cloud via Wifi would be extremely costly. That would be constantly streaming.
You'd want a DVR (digital video recorder) or an NVR (network video recorder) in your home with a connection to the internet so that you could view your cameras remotely.

I agree cloud based recording is kind of expensive and so are the cameras too. I have heard of a camera called the dropcam on Ask This Old House last year and it didn't have great reviews but they were not too bad either on Amazon.com. Here is a link to the manufacturers website https://www.dropcam.com/ . I don't endorse this camera but at the same time don't think it is too bad either. I didn't buy it though because I didn't feel that we needed it and still don't but would consider it or another camera in the future.

In addition to the service expense of online storage I'd be a bit concerned about the security. You'd have a camera in your home streaming over the web. Encryption... password... bla, bla, bla... but the video stream of your house is being sent far away, bounced around the web and stored on someone else's computer. If you do that I think you need to have a better reason than not wanting to run a computer or DVR in your home. You're still going to have to at least keep your home network and modem powered up and running even with cloud storage so you'll still have to have equipment and the 24/7 power consumption.
