Wireless cam + usb 2.0 receiver not working on Win 7 but works on xp

I got the item from ebay (both the wireless camera and the usb 2.0 wireless receiver). When i tested it out on my windows 7 computers (3 computers) they all had the same issues. The the usb 2.0 video controller could not find any driver for the the usb receiver. Then I installed the driver from the cd and it was called USB 2.0 Grabber (from Syntek STK1160 driver). On the Win 7 computers, for some reason it's called USB 2.0 Grabber but on my win xp it's called Syntek STK1160.

When I try to open it up from VLC or Virtualdub and open capture device, I can select from a list of sources (the wireless camera+usb receiver is driver is called USB 2.0 Grabber). When I select it, it does show the video but it's extremely noisy and static ridden. I tried changing 4 channels on the camera and still the same.

On my xp computer, it was real simple. I installed the driver and software and when I plugged in the usb receiver and turned on the camera, it loaded the video perfectly and clear.

I did some research online and it seems that there's quite a bit of issues with windows 7 and stk1160 driver....but seems like it does work as many people have it (the driver that is).

Here's a picture of the video on win 7.Name: SnapShot_141120_115045.jpg

That's a driver thing.

Until the makers of this doohickey make a compatible driver, you are kinda stuck. The problem with a lot of this inexpensive, auction site purchased stuff, is that it's often technology that's a bit behind the curve.

yeah the seller said that he was able to work it just fine on his windows 7 32-bit. Well I have both 32-bit and a 64-bit windows 7 computer and on both computers the same issue came up.

I'm requesting the seller if I can just return it for a refund. It works perfect on my windows xp netbook, but i barely use that netbook anymore and I need it to work on my desktop (which is win 7). I don't want to turn on my netbook everyday as well just so that I can use it as a $500 monitor.

Stuff like that I feel better with something more well known and has a lot of recent reviews to know if it really works or not. I have had good luck with Foscam but I have only used their IP cameras. I don't know if they make any with a USB wireless dongle to a computer.

Thanks for the reply. After spending a few days trying many methods, installing many drivers off the net that claimed would work, it never worked for me on my windows 7 64 bit or 32 bit computers, but worked perfectly on my xp. I decided to return the product and will try for a different model later on.
