Powering down DSC Impassa self-contained wirless alarm system?

Hello all,

I just bought a new home and it has an ADT system installed. After some research I found out it is a DSC Impassa wireless system.

I am trying to figure out how I would power this system down. My previous home had a hard-wired Slomin's system, and to shut it down I simply needed to unplug the transformer, and then disconnect the backup battery in the control box.

However this system apparently has the backup battery unit built right into the keypad. Can I simply pry open the keypad and disconnect the battery? I'm assuming there is likely some sort of tamper-proof device on the keypad so I'm hesitant to try opening it.

If it's actually yours then I wouldn't worry about the tamper. If it is protected then just key in your master code if it goes off.

Unfortunately I did not get the master code from the previous homeowner, which is why I worry about setting it off if I try to remove the faceplate to remove the battery.

Installer manual: http://www.livewatch.com/wp-content/...57-install.pdf

The diagram on page 5 shows how to open the case without breaking it.

At worst it will only sound a local tamper.

What exactly is your goal here then? Powering it down/up will not reset the master code... or even the installer code for that matter.
