Question Spurious panic alarm on DSC system

A few days back our DSC alarm system started to send spurious panic alarm signals to the monitoring service (who send the police out, which is a surprise to us since the alarm is silent). I saw low battery alert on keypad, so I replaced the fob batteries, but spurious panic alarm recurred right after I re-powered up the system. Could the battery alert be for the main backup battery? And if so, why would that cause panic signals?

I've had no luck reaching our installer (may be out of business), so I'm at a loss as to how to proceed.

Thanks in advance.

I believe I have 3 of the PK5500/RFK5500 keypads. I don't think they have batteries.
