Zone type/arming mode question for Vista 20p
Vista 20p
I have an inside foyer door that goes from basement to upstairs. I want it to behave this way... Is it possibe?
Armed away gives instant (delayed ok) alarm
Armed stay is bypassed
Armed night stay is bypassed
Basically i want to be able to arm perimeter and entry doors to alarm instantly at bedtime, but ignore this door. but if set to away, then monitor as usual.
Am i missing something?
Thanks guys

Will zone type 04 alarm in night stay mode?
I have it as 04 now, and been using INSTANT as my night stay (i just realized tonight that its not the same thing) and it goes off if opened
So if instead of arming in INSTANT, i use NIGHT-STAY, will zone type 04 be ignored?

Zone type 04 is "Interior Follower". All Interior zones are ignored in any kind of Stay Mode (including "Instant"), unless they are specifically listed in a Zone List created in *81 Menu Mode.
The only difference between Stay and Night Stay is what, if anything, is listed in a Zone List in *81 Menu Programming to trigger an alarm in Night-Stay mode. If you haven't gone into *81 and made a list for Night-Stay Mode, then there is no difference.
The only difference between Instant Mode and Stay mode is to eliminate the Entry Delay. Instant Mode is a type of Stay mode and ignores all interior Zone Types.
If your interior door is programmed as a Zone Type 04 and is causing an alarm in Instant, then something is wrong. It isn't acting like a Zone Type 04.
You aren't confusing Zone Type 04 with Zone 04, are you?

nah, I wasn't confusing zone type with zones, I was listening to my girlfriend instead of trying it myself, and getting confused in the reading of it all. Apparently instead of hitting INSTANT she was hitting MAX. All I know is it would go off when I go through my foyer after she set it. She said she was hitting INSTANT, and I took her word for it. Then when I was online I was reading stuff that was contradictory. Apparently comcast has a box that has "ARM NIGHT" and it is not the same as "NIGHT-STAY" as their box arms zone type 04 (according to what I've been reading)
Also I was reading a difference in STAY and NIGHT-STAY is that on stay you have a entry/exit delay, and on NIGHT-STAY you do not, Thats not true for mine as I have a delay for both.
Apparently even though the terms are so similar (if not the same) the boxes behave differently and I need to A)Verify issues myself and B)make sure the information Im reading is specifically for my box.

last question (for now)
is there any way to assign a function button to instant without using a macro? I want it to act just like away and stay where once assigned you just have to hold button for 2 seconds and it immediately goes into instant. So far I have only found out how to do it using macros which requires a user code to activate.

No, just trying to make a single button for the gf to press so she doesnt press the wrong one. Would love to have 3 of the function buttons to be away, stay, and instant. That way she doesnt even have to open the keypad door.

You can't program an instant arm command into a function key; but you can program a function key to run a macro command (look in your user manual).
For programming the function key, look in the installer manual: http://www.nationwidesecuritycorp.co...all-Manual.pdf
*57 menu programming.
