Keypad replacement on powerseries 1832
Hello,
I have an DSC ADT power series 1832 with a pk5501eng lcd fixed keypad
i want to replace that keypad because you have to be very good to do any program since the screen wont tell you nothing.
im planning to replace it by pk5500eng and my question is:
can it be replaced just be changin the keypad or does it required programming? and i mean taking the wires out of the old one and put them into the new one?
if programming is requried, are there any directions? i have the installer code but im a real noob on this, lately i have been reading alot about this but some of the guides are very confusing at first
thanks

You can simply swap the wires from the back of the keypad to the new one. Be sure to power down the system first, battery and transformer.
You may need to do a module reset once power back on. In programming enter 902 and then # out. The power cycle may do the reset automatically but it wont hurt either way.

Thanks for the quick response.
Another question (that gets asked a lot) module reset will not erase any config at all right?
also, for the power down, is there any sequence? like, batter first and then ac power?
Thanks!

No programming is lost. Only if there were zone labels but there are not on your current keypad, the labels are stored in the keypad memory on these. The module reset itself will not erase anything. All it does is reassign what is connected to the keypad bus.
The power down makes little difference but I suggest battery first to power off and battery first to power back on again. The battery alone will not start the system back on until AC is plugged back in so dont think it is faulty if you notice this is the case.
