5820 with Vista20P armed for Away only

I am installing from 5820Ls in our bedroom. The wife and I like to leave the windows open at night for coolness and fresh air. I would like to set the 5820s on the windows to be disabled when in STAY mode but active in AWAY mode.

Is this accomplished by setting the loop number from 1 to something else (i.e. what?), setting the zone type to something other than perimeter (i.e. what?), or another way?

Thanks in advance.

Would setting it in the Vista 20P as a motion detector work?

You would do that by programming the zones in question as a interior follower (zone type 04) or by using a customized zone type, or by simply putting another magnet at the position that the window would be open to. The loop number doesn't enter into this.

Honestly, for what you really seem to want to do, the last option is the simplest. You just have to remember to open the window to the same position each time.

Its very simple, as MrRonFL said, just add an other magnet.

I forgot to mention that they are casements :-( Not sure how a second magnet could work with those...

Actually a custom zone looks like this may do it. ;-)

Hmmm, with casements, then you either use the interior zone type, create a custom zone (a "vent" zone configuration would do what you want) or get into the habit of using the zone bypass feature.

Vista panels have a fairly limited choice of zone types...

Thanks for everyone's response!

What are these?

Entry 1: 0
etc.

Entry 1:? Are these zones and you have 10 different entry zones?

Then what is the number following each? Zone types? ??

He's referencing the configurable zone table on page 4-12 of the installer manual: http://www.nationwidesecuritycorp.co...all-Manual.pdf

The entries set up how the configurable zone works. Once it's set up, you use that zone type for the zone programming in *56.

Give it a shot. If it doesn't work quite right, you can always change a couple of settings.

Turns out a Zone 04 (Internal follower) worked fine and did exactly what I wanted it to... so there was no need to go custom. Thanks for everyone's input.
