Honeywell security system

I have a Honeywell security system model Vista-10P and a key pad model K4392V2-1 and am looking for an operator's manual.

Honeywell 10P User Manual can be found here.

The K4392V2-1 is most likely a component or sub-assembly part number. Keypad model numbers are normally 4 digit or sometimes a letter followed by 4 digits.

What ThisOldMan said.

The model number you gave is on the plastic of the keypad housing and is the model number for the housing. Different keypad models sometimes use the same housing, so knowing the housing doesn't tell us which keypad is in it.

You'll find the keypad model number (6128, 6128RF, 6148, 6150, 6150RF, 6151, 6139, 6139RF, 6160, 6160V, 6160V, 6160RF, etc...) on the back of the back plate of your keypad.

And yes, you have to take the back plate off the wall to read it. We don't like it either, but the engineers who designed it that way, and the installers, don't have to live with it--they only have to read it before it's installed.

IIRC, the model number is on the back of the keypad mount attached to the wall; sounds like you removed the front part of the keypad containing the "guts". Vista keypads use a similar layout so the operation of one is much like the operation of another.

Here is a picture of the most popular current keypads for Vista panels. The 6150 displays factory set words like "BEDROOM". The 6160 can display installer programmed phrases like "Ben's Bedroom"..

Hope this helps.

Actually, the 6150's Fixed-English display displays only words like "Zone 4" instead of specific areas like "bedroom" or "kitchen" or "Front Door" that the Alphanumeric keypads (6139 and 6160) can display.

The 6128 and 6148 model numbers that I mentioned were out of production by the time the Vista-10P was marketed, but there are plenty of systems where the control panel was updated but still used the existing older keypads. Not knowing the provenance of the OP's system, I included some older model KPs.
