Vista 20P - 6150 RF- number of zones

Hello:

Vista 20P
Keypads - 6720, 6150RF, 5828 (wireless keypad)
transmitters - 15 total (5814, 5818, 5616, 5890, 5808 ) - door, IR, Smoke

I am working on updating some wireless transmitters to my Vista 20P that is about 10 years and had some questions..

1) 6150RF keypad as the wireless receiver - if zone 9 is first zone to program, I noticed it was not listed on my active zones. Is there a reason why zone 9 is not used? I read 16 maximum wireless devices with 6150RF and I have 10 - 25 programmed with other wireless devices. So is zone #9 available or zone 9 is reserved for 5828 wireless keypad or 6150RF or ??

2) Has anyone tried to add a IPDATEL CBAT -w/Internet & GSM? If so did you need to update the panel's PCB or PROM chip?

Thanks..

Irwin

I can make an educated guess why the original installer left Zone 9 unused.

10 years ago, the Vista-20P was a new upgrade from all the previous Vista panels that started their expansion zones at Z10. Prior to then, Zone 9 had been reserved for Expansion Device Trouble. The installer probably skipped Zone 9 out of habit. It's available to add a wireless zone.

Unfortunately, I'll have to leave the IT question for another tech to answer.

We recently had a person post about trying to use the IPDATEL device with a Vista panel. There were a _lot_ of issues with their documentation and tech support. He eventually got it working, but only after a _lot_ of back and forth.

Thanks for the reply regarding IPDATEL add-on.

Do you know if GSMX-4G is a better choice?
Also, I think I need to update the PROM on my 10 year old Vista 20P, will this clear the current programmed panel?

Thanks..

As it's designed to directly interface with the Keypad bus of the Vista panels, it's going be easier to deal with. You do have to work through an alarmnet vendor, though...
