Brinks 3000C upgrade review

Hi DIY Team -

I have read numerous posts about replacing a Brinks board with a Vista20p/21IP or a GE system, even a 2GIG Takeover module. What I don't know is what's the best answer. I understand that the Vista's are usually a 1 for 1 swap of the Brinks board, keypads, as well as the zoning.

The system is functional but not under contract and it began beeping every 24 hours - battery replacement didn't help this time and the trouble light is on.

Some additional info that may help:
I would like to be able to self-monitor.
The system has two keypads
I think there is one smoke alarm
There is one siren
I may want to add other zones (motion, ip cameras, etc) to the system if possible.

If Vista is recommended, can I just buy the Vista board instead of the panel box since I already have one?

I've included two photos that may help by showing you the zoning and wiring which in turn may help me to understand it all.

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

Andy

You also replace the keypads (keypads are system specific). The siren on a BH3000 is usually going to be a speaker, so you will need a siren driver card, or change the siren to a 12v siren. Other than that; wired contacts and other alarm devices are basically interchangeable.

I've seen proprietary Brinks smokes detectors too so you may need to replace any that are wired to the panel now.
