Mounting the 5898 Dual-Tec Motion Detector

HI, Just got a new motion detector and am atempting to mount it in a corner. Why do the mounting instructions say to only use left OR right side corner mounting holes? Please see attached instruction underlined in red in the screen shot below.

My guess is that they are concerned that if you try to fasten from both sides it might apply stress to the housing, especially if the corner isn't perfectly square or the mounting holes don't line up perfectly.

Excellent question. I've never come across that before and to this day still use opposite corner mounting. I've never had a falsing problem or cover fit problem.

Maybe Mr Ron can shed more light on this issue.

If the corner isn't close enough to square, or the surface is too uneven (textured plaster), it can pull the housing enough out of square that the cover won't stay in place, or even crack the back plane.

If you test fit the device in the corner, and both angles sit nice and flat, go for it with the opposite corner mounting, no harm, no foul.
