Moving a PIR and tamper mode question

Hi all,

I recently had an alarm system installed. The keypad is an Impassa SCW9055-433 and the motion detectors are WS4904P type.

I need to move one of the sensors to a better location as well as ensure the sensitivity is set to "FAST." Only problem is I read that if I remove the motion sensor from the backplate, it will set off a tamper alarm. Can this alarm be disabled with my keychain or alarm code?

And when I finish adjusting the sensor, if I put it back on the backplate, does this return the system to normal? Are there any special tricks to removing it/returning it?

Thanks!

At most, you will have to enter your code a couple of times.

Thanks for the reply.

Will I need the installer code? I know its default is 5555 but not sure if my installer would've changed it.

No, for clearing a tamper, just your normal arm/disarm code should do the trick.

Thanks again for that info.

The tamper alarm was silent & didn't appear to be disabled by my code, but rather it is turned off automatically whenever you place the sensor back on its mount.

I should note that your monitoring company may be alerted when you set off a tamper, regardless of if your system is armed. Mine did but they responded slowly since a tamper alarm while unarmed is considered low priority. I'd say if you want to adjust your sensors, even if they were installed by an alarm company, go for it!

Does anyone know how to actually take the WS4904P apart to access the sensitivity settings/jumpers? I could go digging around with a flathead screwdriver but I also could break the thing that way.

Most central stations will not call the homeowner on a trouble or tamper. It's usually dependent on what your alarm company specifies when they set up your account.

There is only the one jumper for fast/slow response. Everything else is preset and not adjustable. The jumper should be visible when you pop the cover off.

The installation manual.....dsc/download.php?t=1&id=13950/WS4904P
