Honeywell Vista-20P vs Vista 21iP?

I have a 20P panel that I have installed and programmed with multiple keypads and sensors that is working fine. I have purchased an Eyez-On Invisalink board that I haven't yet installed for remote monitoring and control. I recently received a 21iP panel as part of a purchase of a bunch of items that the owner was replacing with an Elk system.

I know the 21iP has a built in networking port, but have heard that it is only usable with the Honeywell Total Connect software/app and requires a minimum monthly contract to be able to use the networking capability. Is this the case, or can the panel be addressed via the network port without this? Any advantage to replacing my existing 20P with the 21iP, or am I better off just installing the Invisalink board in my current panel? TIA for comments and inputs.

The additional features of the 21ip are nearly all tied to the Honeywell TC services, so you won't likely see much, if any, additional functionality by doing the swap out.
