Replacement Kidde Fire Alarm Doesn't Group Alarm

I had a bedroom fire alarm bite the dust last week. It was well over 10 years old and time for a new one so I grabbed a Kidde i12060 120V hardwired alarm to replace the BRK 4120B that died on me. After getting it wired up, the alarm will self test no problem but I noticed that even though the red "interconnect" wire was mated, none of the other alarms in the house alarmed with it. Going the other direction, testing a different alarm in the system makes all the alarms in the house fire but not the new Kidde alarm I just installed.

Kidde's webpage (see link below) says that the BRK 4120 is compatible with their alarm (I assume that would include by 4120B) so I'm not sure where I've gone wrong here. Obviously I could have buggered up the wiring but given that the new Kidde alarm works under a self test I'm inclined to think I got it right but I'm fully open to ideas here.

What Products do Kidde Alarms Interconnect with

With the units being 10 years old.... they should all be replaced.
I've found that units more then 5-7 years and older don't match their new counterparts.
