Changing carbon detector connected to alarm

Have a carbon detector thatís connected to alarm system. Recently the carbon detector has been giving me the trouble chirp. Can I simply buy another 4 wire carbon detector and replace?

Does anything ing need to be done with alarm panel?

The old carbon detector is a Napco 1224 which is discontinued. Thinking about replacing with system sensor 1224 TR.

Just swap it out. It's a 4 wire device, in essence, it's a fancy relay, the alarm control input is programmed to know what happens when that relay changes state.
