Freezer Failure Alert???

Our freezer is in a detached garage. Last weekend while our entire family was busy hosting an event, a breaker got tripped and the freezer stopped operating. Everything in it was lost because of thaw. I am wondering if you know of a system or single outlet unit that I can get to send an alert to my cell phone when the circuit is interrupted. We don't spend much time in this garage and having a light or something like that won't work. I need a signal sent to me in the event of circuit failure. I would rather deal with too many alerts than not getting one when we really need it. Any ideas???

Welcome to the forums.

A company called tempstick makes a wifi temperature monitor but it doesn't have a remote sensor that can go inside the freezer. They make wireless freezer temperature monitors but they don't connect to the internet. I've seen a couple of possible choices when I do a search but I'm not familiar with them. I'm still checking around.

I'm moving this thread to the security section as this is something dealt with more there.

First question: Do you have an existing alarm system? If so, what model?

It's fairly simple to interface a power-interrupt sensor to an alarm system, and contemporary alarm controls can interface with the internet.

This is not exactly what you are asking for, but maybe a quick-n-dirty or temporary solution. Our basement freezer recently stopped and would not turn back on until it was unplugged and plugged back in. I had an extra outdoor wireless temperature monitor I put inside the freezer and the "inside display" has hi/low temp alarms where it will make an alarm noise if the temperature alarm is tripped. I set that up in the kitchen and it has given my wife piece of mind the last couple weeks while I was out of town for work.

I came to the forum now to see if I can figure out how to fix it...

How about plugging a Wifi-lightbulb into the same outlet as the freezer?

Basic Wifi bulbs are now around $15,
