Cellular backup
Tried to get AT&T and Verizon toi answer without going through a whole sales pitch...but had no luck..Is cellular monitoring equivalent to a separate phone or is there a discounted rate....like the low cost of hooking a tablet to an existing phone....This may I have been discussed and missed it...Can you use a pay as you go phone or not...
Thanks, wayne

AT&T and Verizon have no idea or bearing on the monitoring. They are just the data carriers.
A cellular unit will link to a central station. They pay the carrier and you pay them.
What alarm system do you have.

The digital communicators for that system connect to alarm(dot)com. Two listed below.
The dual path model is cellular and ethernet.

Carrier charges are most often handled by the platform provider - alarm.com, Honeywell/Resideo for AlarmNet, Alula, etc and it's included in your monthly charges. You don't need to worry about it, the device is sent to you with an activated SIM. If you tell us what communicator you're planning to use, someone should be able to give a definitive answer.
