DSC 1832 Wireless Enrollment

Hey all,

I am in the process of installing a DSC 1832 panel using a 5501 wired panel. I am trying to get into subsection 898 to get into the wireless enrollment tab to add door and motion sensors. I keep getting a beeping error and it returns to the main programming screen right away.

I have made a video of the error. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Which version of panel do you have? Section 898 for easy wireless enrollment is available only on V4.60 and above. For other versions, you need to use manual enrollment method - programming ESN in section 804.
Also, which version of keyboard you have? V1.3 and above uses 3-digit for subsections 804, while lower version uses just two digit subsections.

EDIT: I think only PK5500 v1.3 and above uses three digit subsections, for PK5501 v1.2 is the latest version I think. You can follow instructions here for enrolling ESN: https://help.aartech.ca/portal/en/kb...-pk5501-keypad

This is a V4.6 PC1832NK

The keypad that I am using is RFK5501. None of those instructions seem to work. Super frustrated.

I tried the section 804 as detailed:B: Manual Wireless ESN Entry [804 and 101-164]
  1. Enter section 804.
  2. The system will then want the zone number that you want the wireless device to go on.
  3. The screen should display 6 zeroes unless there is an ESN programmed for that zone, in which case it will display that ESN. You will need the ESN from the device you are programming. It will display as a 6 digit combination of letters and numbers. Pressing * on this screen toggles between letters and numbers. Example ESN: 4AD64C. You would enter the following series of buttons: 4*14*64*3
  4. After entering 6 digits, the keypad will beep 3 times and then you would enter a new zone number and repeat for all wireless devices.
  5. Push # when all ESNs are entered.
  6. Then for each wireless zone you will need to tell the alarm system to look for a wireless zone instead of hardwired. To do this you will go to the section that is 100 + zone number. For example if you had a wireless device on zone 9 you would go to section 109. 100+9=109.
  7. Once you go to that section you will see various toggle options on or off. The option that you should be concerned with is option 8. Make sure that option 8 is on.
  8. Press # to go back.
  9. Repeat for all wireless zones.
When you are finished press ### to exit programming

**After I enter the zone number ex "01" there are numbers that appear at the top of the screen, they are not mentioned in the above instructions. I dont know what to do with those.

Here is a video: https://youtu.be/l6HrZBEYtmc

Any ideas?

Thanks

Can you do the module supervision reset in section 902? *8 5555 902 # #.
Then wait minute or so and check in section 903, you should see number 17 showing on LCD.
If not, then are you sure that you have an RFK5501 and not just PK5501? Else, wireless module on RFK keypad can be bad.

Lately there was discussion about connection issue between NorthAmerican and Europe versions of panel/wireless module, just to verify that both of them are intended for same region (bought from distributer, not ebay second hand).

EDIT:
**After I enter the zone number ex "01" there are numbers that appear at the top of the screen, they are not mentioned in the above instructions. I dont know what to do with those.
The instruction above are intended for aplhanumberic LCD keypad, but can be used with icon display you have, just folow the instructions and do everything but you wont be able to see what you entered/saved. It's a little harder, but sensors have sticker on them with ESN number in the way you should enter it (like 4*14*64*3).
After finishing enrolling all zones, enable option 8 in zone attributes (section 100+zone number).

Actually, you can view the programming information on the 5501 model keypads. You just treat the row of small numbers at the top as if they the LEDs on a LED model keypad.

See the table on page 10 of the system manual: https://cms.dsc.com/download.php?t=1&id=24757

As someone has pointed out, the 898 programming instructions are specific to the WT5500 keypad.
If you have a RFK5501 keypad you use the wireless enrollment instructions for that: https://cms.dsc.com/download2.php?t=1&id=13773

Verify that you do, in fact have a RFK5501 wireless receiver keypad.
