My wireless motion detector red light does not light

Sorry for the interruption, trying to start a new post/thread but don't know how. My question is" My wireless motion detector red lite does not lite, changed the 2 Li batteries, still no lite. What could be wrong?"

Welcome to the forums.

Started new thread.

The red light on some motion detectors will only work for a few minutes after battery change as a test. Some motion detectors require holding a magnet up to the side of the unit to put it in test mode

The red light isn't usually seen as it uses valuable battery life.
Motion detectors have a timer built in that puts the motion to sleep for 5-10 minutes once triggered to also save valuable battery life. Allow the unit to sit for 10 minutes with no movement. Then see if it triggers alarm with motion.

Let us know what motion detectors you have.

No markings visible but here is a picture of the detector.

That's a Honeywell Ademco 5890PI wireless motion.
The red LED is not normally active. You need to activate it to test the detector.
Much easier to let the detector rest and when crossing it see if panel responds.

Thanks, checked, it is OK although does not lite as you said. Now, looking for a smoke detector for this system, Alarm grid quoted @ 250$ - beyond my price range, before giving up, thought to check if there is any other option.

That seems excessive.
Post that model number and the model number of your alarm system/panel.

$250 is indeed too much for that. Look on Amazon etc for the part #
I found this via Google search: Honeywell Home 5800COMBO Wireless Smoke/CO - Advanced Security LLC

I will also add that if you're looking for just a smoke and not a smoke/CO combo you can get it a good bit cheaper. Alarmgrid may have been trying to up-sale you

Thanks, just want one that I can program onto my Vista 15P.
I have put new batteries into my motion detector - trying to test it; when I put my code then "away", it beeps same as when the alarm is going to sound off so got scared as neighbors may not relish.

The exit delay cadence is the same as the entry delay cadence, just a different (usually) duration. It stops when the delay times out.
