remote video camera
Hi, I have seen the adds for the miniature video cameras. Would it be possible to view the camera from a remote location using only telephone lines? We have a weekned house that I would like to be able to check on from our home computer. We have cable connection at our house but it is not available at the weekend place.

You can aquire the equipment at a local security distributor. It should cost you around 300 U.S depending on their mark-up. This does not include the video camera or installation. This will allow remote monitoring of your video system and you may also be interested in remotly operating your alarm panel through telephone controls. Some benefits are as follows.
Remotly operating your home security system can be usefull to turn on the heat in your cabin from your cell phone as your on your way over. DSC panels can use "escort" for remote arming or disarming and with external relays can turn on lights or heater controls etc from your cell phone. Also usefull for turning off your security system when your children come home for lunch and you are at work. Other security systems have products which can perform the same tasks, just ask your rep or installer if your system is upgradable to include remote operating devices.
Call a local ADI or Burtek rep in your area. ( Alarm distribution companies will not sell direct but will advise you on your needs and forward you to a dealer for pricing.)
Hope this helps.....

I am truly amazed with the security items located at www.x10.com. I have personally bought several of their cameras and they have worked great. Also they have cameras that can hook into your computer and you can view remotely over the telephone lines from other locations. I hope this helps you.
