house alarm going off for no reason?

hello, i was wondering if anyone could give me any clues as to why my house alarm keeps going off for no reason?

i think the problem is within the actual box mounted outside my house and not the control panel as it happens even when i have not armed it at control panel.

thanks.

Paul,
What kind of alarm system is it?
When you say it is going off, do you mean the sirens. I assume the keypad also. This should indicate the zone. If it's not armed or set, it is probably a 24 hour zone such as fire, or a zone misprogrammed as a 24 hour zone. Also, any possibility it is a keypad panic button, possibly set off by a child. And what box do you have outside.
As a professional with over 11 years experience, the only alarm panels located outside are in the movies, and a few in garages, installed by "not-to-bright" people.
Give me some more information and I'll try to help.

A lot of the cheaper wireless alarm systems can be set off by neighbours garage door openers and even wayward signals from TV remote control wands. I suggest you get a hard-wired system. The police and fire departments in Toronto are now billing householders and businesses up to 800 bucks for false alarm calls.

There are lots of good deals out there for free monitored systems. usually there is no charge for equipment but watch out they dont get you with the installation or activation fees. Try Merlin or Watchnet.

Alarms?

First of all, wireless system are not subject to interfearence from door openers or remotes!
Is the siren going off or just the keypad? If the siren is going off then you should have a zone indication. As for the box outside, I have no clue as to what that might be. Additional information is required but the fix should be easy enough.
