couriers

I was wondering if anyone has any input on being a courier.I was just layed off from my airline job for the 3rd time since 2001.My last day will be the 25th.
Anyway I was looking in the paper and saw a add for a courier it said all I need is a small pickup I have a new one a 2004 Tacoma so no problem there.
6-7 hundred a week not what I make now but it will only be temp till I get my recall.
What can anyone tell me on what to expect like who pays for fuel?I also would like to take my wife as a co pilot is that allowed?
I heard that all fuel and maintenance is tax deductable I do not know.
