Question installing vinyl Cedar Impressions siding

I would like some help with installation of CertainTeed Cedar Impressions vinyl siding. We have started the project and have reached the top of the house. There is a 6" gap. We will cut the siding but the J-channel doesn't hod it snug. We tried slotting the siding and nailing it down, but the nails show. We were told that there was a type of flexible channelling that you could buy to slip behind the siding to hold it taut. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Or does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

3m tape or glue should support. 3m tape is very strong and lasts forever.

You need a product called undersill finish trim. It is used to hold the cut edge of the siding under window sills and the last strip at the top. There is an art to cutting the siding for this last row - it needs some "tooth" so the finish trim will hold it in place. There is no mechanical fastening for the last row - just the friction between the siding and finish trim.
