Hello,
I read previously that the gap between the J channell and the window trim should be caulked. I have aluminum siding and wooden 2 by as the window trim around vinyl windows. In some spots between the J channel and the trim there is as much as a 1/2 incg gap. SHould I caulk between this gap? And should I use the highest quality caulk like I did for the connection from the vinyl windows to the wooden trim? Finally, if I do caulk the gap between the J channel and the trim, does this need to be painted? THanks for any advice.

As far as the gap between the siding "J" and the wood trim, I would look at the gap both in the summer and in the winter before I decided whether or not to caulk it. If it is there year round, then put a caulking backer rod (or a little fiberglass insulation) in the gap first, then use 100% silicon to caulk the gap. Better like the color of the silicon you use -- paint won't stick to it.
