removed electric baseboard, how to finish up?

I removed some old three-pole electric baseboard heaters from my living room (home has gas heat).

How do I finish the job -- what do I do with the remaining wiring, which is in a thick white case? I tried to look on the underside (basement has exposed ceiling) but the wiring appears to be covered up by insulation and a bit of drywall.

Thanks for your help!

Three poles have 2 hot legs. If one hot leg is off the unit will not come on but the other leg may still be hot. I would have an electrician first determines if the power is off and disconnect the wires at the service panel. Then all you have to do is push the wire into the wall and patch it.
