weatherstrip old metal sliding windows

Hi,

I am new here.

I am renting a place. The bedroom windows have drafts, let in outside noise etc.

I tried the smallest weatherstrip foam tape and it helped alittle, but when i tried to close the window some of it came off.

Is there a better way to do this? a better material?

Id be up for sealing it completely some other way but im renting so i have to be careful.

These windows slide from left to right. The strip is gone on all edges.

Thanks for your help!

No pro, but since there hasn't been a response yet, did you clean the area and let it dry before applying weatherstrip?
