tv power usage

do flat screen LCD TV's use less power than a old style tube TV of the same size, or even led TV's are they the less power hungry of them all ?

There's "on" power and stand-by power and the actual use will vary by manufacturer. We would like to think that newer is more efficient, but that is not always true. Each model should have a tag for power required, then perhaps a consumer report for the stand-by power.

LCD tv's with an LED back light are more energy efficient than the ones with fluorescent black lights. I'm not sure if all LED tv's have hit the market yet.
