Improving Weather Resistance of Old Aluminum windows

Aluminum frames... thermally broke or not... are going to be cold. Thermal drapes may help the roim stay warmer, but they will also make the window get even colder, because the drapes will block heat from warming up the glass and frame.

I suggest using some clear plastic window insulator film like this: 3M Indoor Window Insulator Kit, 5-Window - Amazon.com (there are other brands, only example)

I have used it for many years on problem windows like bay windows and skylights. Goes on easy and is clear enough that you almost forget it is there.
