I live in an older mobile home. The wooden porch needs painting! What kind of paint is best? How many coats? I plan to sand off the old paint which is peeling quit badly. I am going to put outdoor carpeting on the stairs and the actual porch and just paint the railings around the porch. There are two metal poles on each side of the porch, for decoration, can they be painted with the same paint as the wood?

How was gas does a gas fireplace use?

We bought our first house in September. Moved out of a rental with propane heat into our home with gas heat and a gas fireplace. We used the fireplace almost nightly during the month of November. Hubby says, it doesn't use any more gas than a gas stove would. I thought, ok...we'll see. Got the gas bill in December, and while I realize the price of natural gas has tripled in some areas, the bill was almost $300!!! We didn't use the fireplace at all in December. Next gas bill was $240. So....how much gas does a gas fireplace really use?

Window Insulator film

I haven't been able to find window insulator film anywhere. Does anyone know where I can order it on the Web? Or, where I can buy it in the San Francisco area?
