Identifying exterior air leaks

I have a crawl space under my enclosed porch which is very drafty. I located several areas above the foundation concrete where the house sits. I tried pushing expanding foam into these areas but with no success. The draft remains.

I would like to pump some smoke or something similar and monitor any leakeage from the outside of the home. Has this been tried? Would it be effective? And, is there a machine I can rent to generate some type of non-toxic smoke?

first thing that comes to mind is a fog machine. a device most d.j.'s or rock bands use for stage lighting effects--- this may work...
