production of electricity from wood

I have a remote cabin miles from electricity. I would like to burn wood to produce electricity for the cabin. Enough power to run appliances including a window air conditioning unit, any suggestions?

The only way you could use wood to produce electricity would to have a steam generator. It would be somewhat inefficient unless you used the steam for something else like to heat the cabin. In the woods you're better off using a wind turbine or water generator. There far more reliable and more applicable in your situation. Wind turbines diagrams you can get off any DOE site, state or federal. For the water generator, you have to find a stream that you can divert water in a pipe down a slope. Depending on the size of the generator, determines the length of the pipe and drop. Search the web for electric generators and you'll find a manufacturer that makes them.
