I've got more bark than I know what to do with.

So... We've had a wood stove for two years now. Every spring, when the snow melts, it uncovers a massive amount of bark leftover from the winters wood chopping. Small chunks to real big chunks. Not wanting to burn it in the woodstove, I've just piled it up figuring I could find some use for it in the future.

At this point, I have a huge pile and am interested in suggested uses for this stuff. Wifey doesn't want to put it around our 40 little pine trees as mulch. Says the pieces are too big. Not really interested in burning it in our outdoor fireplace, we have actual wood for that and I think it would create too much smoke.

Any suggestions? Want some?

My first thought was to use it for your pine tree mulch problem but...........

If you don't use it for mulch or burn it, the only thing left is to haul if off

Big pieces of bark can be made smaller

After that, I have no ideas beyond what Mark said

What Mitch said was what I was going to say. If you have access to a chipper/shredder that's probably the quickest way. I've been doing that all summer. The hickory bark I have gets pretty hard as it dries, though so I have to cut it into smaller pieces before I through it in the chipper. Just an idea.
