Question Swamp cooler parts?

I have been on the site before with swamp cooler questions. We have had it running, but it seems that the wall switch has a burning smell. The switch plate itself is larger than the standard switch plate. We cannot find the size we need anywhere. We have only found the standard sized switch and plate, and the wiring configuration is different than the existing one. Can someone help? Is there any way we can use that size switch, or would it not be safe? We are sweating here in rural Utah!

A true electrical supply house should have what you need. Does your switch have just on/off or different speeds??

The important thing is to make sure the amp ratings are the same. If you try and use a switch that is under rated it will burn up on ya real quick.

We live in rural Utah, so we just have 3 regular hardware stores here. The larger warehouse type outfits are 1 1/2 hour drive away. The switch we have has the following settings" off, pump only, high cool, low cool, high vent, low vent. All of these are printed around the dial. Shelli

What brand and model is the cooler and can you tell the amp rating on the switch or at least what size is the breaker that serves it?
