Poly tubing will not stay connected

I know this shows my lack of mechanical abilities. I cannot get the poly tube to stay connected. If I push it past the barb the tubing splits and leaks. If I only push it up to the bard the tubing slips off.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Is this new poly???? If so sure its the right size?? The wall of it can be to thick???
try a hair dryer to warm the tube and slip it on.

The poly is new 1/4 inch. The old poly was too brittle (over 12 years old). I will try the hair dryer idea tomorrow. Do you think the poly is supposed to go past the barb?
Thanks

It's been a couple of days now and the poly has not slipped off. I was trying Brass Conversion Barbed Adapter that

Adapts poly tube to brass fittings without using 1/4" cc sleeve

I used the 1/4" Delrin Sleeve & 1/4" Poly Tube Brass Insert the last time and it sure did not look like it would be better but the poly tubing is holding nicely. After another 5 or so days if no leaks I will consider it fixed. Thanks.

Dont know what PSI you have on the water there. But like for a well and other water lines you still put a hose clamp on it after its over the barb
