Fan only questions

Thermostat controlled Master Cool Plus was just serviced/opened for the season. Today the water is flowing off the side of my brand new roof! I'm thinking the new float is stuck (optimist) so I turned the water off - which kept running with swamp cooler off.

I'm unable to get on the roof until Monday.

Running 'fsn only' will do just that, right? Meaning no water pump and shouldn't do any damage? "Cool" turns on pump?

And on a lesser note - should the fan be controlled by the thermostat setting? It's only my 2nd summer with it and I can't remember if the 'fan only' gave me instant fan or if I had to kick the thermostat on for it to run.

Cool

The water is a float adj. it is quite simple. turning the t-stat to fan only is just that - only the fan. no pumps etc..
call the tech that "serviced" it and get them back to adj. the float asap. they should not have left till this was complete.

I figured it may have been stuck only due to the fact that "we" were discussing the unit when they serviced it last week. Part of the talk was about the adjustment. They sent someone out and they said "the float wasn't adjusted". Go figure...

My whole thinking was that they opened it, they should come back. It was cool-breezy lately so no biggie. It seemed logical that fan only wouldn't utilize the pump but not knowing for sure, I figured I would check. Thanks.

But back to that one minor question - shouldn't the fan run when "FAN" is turned on regardless of the therm temp setting? Or is that one of the aspects of a swamp cooler?

I'm used to the dual forced air units with Heat/Cool and Auto/Fan. Those I could kick the fan on regardless of where the temp setting was.
