Making cooler more efficeint
I don't think my MasterCool is cooling to it's full potential. When I look at the cooler it looks like water is flowing on one side (the side where the water hose is located) and not the other. I was wondering if there is any benefit to adding a larger water pump to increase the water flowing through the pad? I live in a 1200 sq ft house and was looking at an 11,000 cfm pump. Thanks for any help you can give me. http://forum.doityourself.com/images/smilies/wall.gif

Tom,
Sounds like maybe a distribution tube is clogged or disconnected. You should have water to the top of both pads. Posssibly the pump is not pumping as much as it should, but normally they work fine until they break. Flowing more water than the pad can use accomplishes nothing. Its the evaporation of the water that cools the air. Pumping too much might actually decrease that evap process.
Clean pads, regular maint, clean distribution tubes and channels, gets you as much as yer gonna get.
What model cooler do you have?

7 y/o pad ?!, yes, I'd say its time for replacement. Esp if your water is anything like mine up here in N. AZ. And if you have mineral buildup on the pad, you know its gotta be in the water channels as well.
