Float problems?

Hi there,

I am having trouble with my swamp cooler. It is constantly pumping water into the reservoir, causing it to overflow continuously when in use.

When the cooler is in 'pre-cool' mode and the pump is filling the reservoir before the fan starts, I can lift the float and the water pump stops the filling. But once the fan starts and the unit starts operating fully, the float does not shut off the pump even when lifted by hand.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Bamish.

I had to stop and wonder why you would have your swamp cooler running in January and then I realized you are having summer in Australia.
As far as the float goes, I have seen some of those australian units before and unlike our coolers here, most dont have a bendable rod on the float as ours do.
If your float is metal, try bending it down a little. If your float is all plastic, some of those have an adjustment on the actual float bulb where as you can rotate it to adjust it. Good luck and keep us updated if this doesnt fit your float description.
