Siding to use on garage

I have an older garage. The siding on this garage is wood, and it is attached to the garage flat, not at an angle.

I have a piece of siding that needs replaced. I'm not sure what to use, and I'm wondering if someone could recommend what type of wood to use.

I would rather reside the garage, but I can't afford to do this at this point, and I need something to use to replace the bad piece.

Thanks!!!!

Cool

Use a piece of pressure-treated 1X to match the rest of the siding.
Prime it on all sides before installing, and then paint it on the outside to match the garage.
Good Luck!

Question about type

This might sound ignorant, but is pressure-treated 1x, the same as plywood?

Sorry about the dumb question.

Thanks

Cool

1X (one by) lumber means boards of one inch X 4", 6", etc. inches, which are actually about 3/4" thick by about a half-inch less than the stated width. For instance, a 1X6X8 designates a board that actually is about 3/4" thick by 5.5" wide by eight feet long.
Pressure-treated means that the boards have been pressure-treated with a preservative to prevent rot. Better quality pressure-treated lumber has a 50-year limited warranty.
Just ask at any building supply lumber yard. They will know what you need.
There are no dumb questions. That's how we all learned at one time or another...asking or observing.
Good LucK!
