Replacing Gutters - need advice/help
I have gutters that have rotted out in spots and are now housing carpenter ants and hornets in areas...I am going to tear them down and put up vinyl gutters, easy enough I suppose...but someone told me about the wood behind the gutters...
I guess I need to yank that and replace it - it looks like a 1 x 6 and then a 1 x 4 with the gutters on the 1 x 4. I was also told it would be better to treat and paint the wood ahead of time too...
Can someone confirm this or shed a little light on it for me? I'm new to all this and don't wanna ruin anything!
Thanks!

Replace the rotted fascia boards. Prime and paint them on all surfaces before installing. Finishing before installing can provide extra protection for damage from water in the future.
Hope this helps.
