Use of a brick or block wall as siding?

Can anyone tell me what the feasability of using bricks or blocks to basically make a 10'Hx20'L wall as siding along the house? Will this be some sort of insulation?

Brick has been used for siding for a long time. It has some insulative value, but not much.

Thanks for the response...
If I have a cement slab as a base for the brick or block wall, would that be fine as a footer for the wall?

If the slab for the house has a brick ledge on it, you are in luck. That would be the very best you could hope for.

Thanks. What I have is cement slab right next to the home. I want to just cover the aluminum siding that is there now with a block wall. Can I do that?

Block should be set on a footer, ground freeze/thaw in the winter will move the slab around a bit.
