Bondo to fix rotted door jamb?

I've got a rotted door jamb and mullion that I need to fix. The rot is about 1" x 5". Instead of replacing a portion of the jamb, I'm thinking about chiseling out the rot and filling with Bondo. This is on the exterior of my front door near the threshold. Has anyone done this type of repair? Any advice?
