new siding - preservation collection

I just survived the high pressure sales pitch from a local Virginia area company wanting to install one of the "best" vinyl products in the industry. I have a modest ranch style home. The estimate I was given seemed high $23,301 to install 1700 sq feet of siding. Has anyone ever uses the preservation collection siding before? Is it worth the price? The sales guy brought in samples from the homecenter stores and I have to agree the preservaton collection was defineatly better. They also use a formed insulation rather than the flat kind. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated. I got an estimate from Lowes several years ago for $4300, so $23,301 seemed excessive.

Thats insane unless the siding is gold inlayed. I don't like the idea of the siding with the insulation attached to it. If you ever need to change the siding again, you have to replace both again.
