Estimating siding

I am trying to estimate the amount of siding I will need to do a gable end over a screened in porch. The pitch is 4/12 and spans 24 feet. What is the rule of thumb and yes, I know to add 10% for mistakes and such.

Thanks for your help....

I would estimate it as a rectangle 4x24 (96 sq feet) To get the exact area, you'd multiply by .5, but to allow for waste, I'd multiply it by .67 (2/3). So roughly .65 square.

If you did it perfectly, no mistakes, it would equal 8 pieces of double 4" vinyl siding, assuming it is 12' 6" long.
