antique wood?

Brother in-laws moms house is old and will be leveled soon because of new zoning to comercial. His parents have not lived their for 10 plus years. It has almost no drywall at all. One room is all mahogney planks about 1/4 thick , another room is magnolia about 3/4 thick and another is gum? And all the others are real wide pine planks. Are these worth pulling out?

Probably not. My brother in law bought an old house for practically nothing. He gutted the whole house and torn down and rebuilt the back half. Very little lumber was salvageable. It had a lot of oak 2X4's [heated my shop real good], oak and pine bead board. You would probably be lucky if you could salvage 1/2 of the 1/4" wood.

I would still give it a shot though. I would concentrate mostly on the wide and thick lumber. Since it has not been lived in, keep an eye out for snakes.

We are going to try and get the Magnolia out first, some guy said it is very valuable because you can not get thick wide planks of magnolia at all because all the large trees have already be cut and magnolia don't grow fast at all.
